RE: Forte Trailer Hitch
Hi all,
I had the Curt hitch installed Monday - the local Kia place installed it. Now, the muffler is slapping up against the hitch and there's a loud vibration during acceleration - the car sounds more like a Honda now than a Kia...not pleasant at all.

So I took the car back today (Friday) and the mechanic at Kia told me that it's the first Curt hitch they've ever installed, but that he put is on right and that it's too bad that there's a vibration but there's nothing they can do about it. He suggested that I get a piece of rubber to add as a spacer between the exhaust and the hitch...there's only a few mm of space.

So, Kia is claiming it's the Curt hitch that is the problem.

Anybody having a similar issue with their hitch?? I'm thinking I'll now have to uninstall/reinstall the thing myself.

Suggestions???

John

RE: Forte Trailer Hitch
I had a hitch put on mine as well, Uhaul hitch and it rattles like crazy also. Trying to get local Kia dealer to look at it but everyone say's it's not their problem. Uhaul suggested the isolator holding the muffler was old since there's a lot of play in the muffler. (although it's always been that way).

Anyone figure out a remedy for this yet??? it's driving me crazy. I was going to have it removed and get a refund from Uhaul and have a local shop install the eTrailer (Curt) one thinking it may be different and not rattle, but appears they all do that.

After calling around to my local Kia dealers, they suggested to take it to a muffler shop. I dropped it off at a local muffler shop and they just heated up the muffler and "adjusted' it so it doesn't hit at all anymore. Cost me $20.
