Auto 5 Speed Shiftng Issue
After a warm start I am experiencing a very hard 2'nd to 3'rd shift 20% of the time. Engine surges and it slams into 3"rd. It's an EX with the fuel economy package that has he 5 speed auto. I'm bringing it in ASAP. FYI

RE: Auto 5 Speed Shiftng Issue
How many miles on your car?

Check the transmission fluid level? Perhaps change to a new one.

Have checked the level. This started the second day I had it. Total miles are less than 200. Lot of good things too by the way.

RE: Auto 5 Speed Shiftng Issue
There is a known problem with the hard 2-3 shift and Kia has issued a TSB where they reprogram the ECU. Check with your Kia dealer if you are having this problem.

I like my Kias with their 10 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty!

RE: Auto 5 Speed Shiftng Issue
The dealer did a lot of campaign fixes for the gas cap, audio system, etc. But no progress was made with the shifting issue.I now get the hard shift (just the first one after starting up) hot or cold. The post about the Kia service campaigns is worth knowing and following up with the dealer on. There's quite a list. I find a lot to like about the car, but this shifting issue is serious

RE: Auto 5 Speed Shiftng Issue
regular auto. I found another forte forum with many people have the exact same issues. It also appears it is not just the forte, some other kia's do it also.

RE: Auto 5 Speed Shiftng Issue
I found this on other forums too. I sent the link to my dealer with a note that I will be making an appointment soon. The other entries were referencing the 2.4 engine with the 5 speed auto. I have the 2.0 but with the fuel saver package that includes the 5 speed auto. I would guess the issue is related to it and not the engine. It's too bad though as there is plenty to like about the car. It is surprisingly good in our Western New York snow season. All the gizmos help.
