A/C opinions
now that summer is truly upon us, I was curious what you guys think of our A/C systems? I'm in West Texas and honestly it is barely cutting it, after about 30 mins it will finally cool down but I rarely drive for 30+ mins. My 99 Olds takes less than 15 mins and my truck takes 5-10, so this is disconcerting. The Forte uses r34a refrigerant doesn't it? thats what my other vehicles use and they work just fine. anyways it's about time for my first oil change so I'll have them look at it them.

RE: A/C opinions
I'm in Philly, the AC is barely adequate, when I test drove in the fall it was great, if I had shopped in the Summer, I might not have purchased

RE: A/C opinions
yea the a/c is... meh... my SUV had a better A/C, then again it had a bigger engine (and probably a bigger A/C condenser)

Yea my AC is not that great. I've had a 95 Buick century and a 2000 Imapala and they both got much colder than my Forte. My Buick got CRISP! I swear I used to be in an igloo in that car..lol.

both of those cars have a V6, if im not mistaken, and it seems like V6's have bigger A/C condensers

RE: A/C opinions
I bought a commercial thermometer and placed it inside the air vent with ac on on a hot day (upper 80F's). With the fan on 3 it read around 47F, fan #2 around 41F and fan #1 37F. So it's putting out pretty cold air, but with the black interior and leather it holds a lot of heat. The thermometer read 116F prior to starting the car up.

yeah, they would. and i know my truck isn't a fair comparison because it's got a 465hp diesel V6 but i spend so much time in it, i can't help but compare the two.

@koupkrazy, i like those numbers, i had a thermometer that i used to test my olds i'll try to find it and check mine.

RE: A/C opinions
tinting the windows helped out a bunch. I noticed that the compressor and fan make a lot of noise now (11,500 miles on the car) and it does take a while to cool down initially. After it gets cool, the #1 fan speed is adequate, it's just the first 20 minutes or so that are tough.

I use a sun shade when I park my car to cover the windshield and my 35% tint on the other windows helps keep a lot of the heat out of the car to begin with.

they're expecting 100+ (F) wx in California this summer... I hope the A/C can keep up.

RE: A/C opinions
i haven't got a shade for the windshield yet, but my car stays covered all week and i only get it out on the weekends so i didn't want to get something i'll use once a week... maybe i should go ahead though.
