Rattling interior plastic
Hey guys, I'm new to the site...along with this car. I picked up a titanium sx koup two weeks ago (did full tint, and a set of the black spoked/polished lip 17" rims from kia).

What I've been experiencing is some annoying rattling of the interior plastics when the stereo is turned up (especially when the power bass is turned on). Do any of you have any recommendations as to what I could do to stop this??

Thanks,

Erik.

I hooked up a sub and don't even use the power bass. I think it may be too much bass for the little door speakers? Just a thought. I haven't had any trouble. Post pics of your car...sounds sweet!

careful, they may sound good now, but don't push the factory speaker too hard. they absolutely, without a doubt WILL wear out, get a small $200 amp and sub if you want a little more bass, or throw $500 at it and pump it up, but the factories are not the infiniti's that hyundai puts in their cars.

RE: Rattling interior plastic
i have the power bass on low, with the bass set at -5...didn't think i was overloading the speakers at all. i'm getting an alarm put in by Visions very soon...might have them upgrade a couple components, and maybe put some sound deadner in also.

will also post pics as soon as my camera is working!

hmm, sorry, i got the impression you were jamming out, you shouldn't have a rattle at that level though, now you may get distortion, like unstable vibrations at any level if you max the volume. it's just a design issue on nearly all factory systems. ask your guys at visions to identify the noise, or your dealership, though remember the aftermarket guys will try to sell you regardless, so be sure your dealing with an ethical person(if there is such a thing in sales) to get a honest answer.

RE: Rattling interior plastic
sorry...should have said i keep my settings relatively low, and the volume always below 30 on the stereo. must just be the frequencies the music i listen to hit or something.

luckily i know the manager in the auto/sound bay at visions so we'll see what happens. the idea of some upgraded tweeters/mids crossed my mind...maybe a sub too.

My plan as of now is to swap all factory speakers with infiniti kappa's and get a 350watt punch amp and a rockford 12. probably won't do this for awhile though, not a priority, the factory system sounds decent. check out this site http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/autoi...MyCar.aspx just put in your year make and model and it will show you all the speakers that will fit w/o cutting, it's a pretty neat tool.

RE: Rattling interior plastic
So after this post appeared, I started to listen more carefully.......and of course I find a rattle. The rattle is almost like coins rattling around. The sound of course comes only when I got the tunes cranking. I tracked it down to driver's door by the window buttons. When I pushed on the panel, the rattle stopped.....Hmmmmm. I shoved a business card into the side (just a tad...tore off the rest).
The rattle is GONE.
Suppose there is something on the inside of the panel needs to be tightened. So...next step, maybe when I visit the dealership for the first time, I'll get them to open it up and tightened everything in there. (will pull out the paper first Smile
