Poor fuel economy so far
Bought my Five Door a little over two weeks ago and me and my fiancée love it so far except for one little thing. So far we have not been getting very good gas mileage at all. First time I filled it we got 24mpg with about 65-75 percent of that being highway driving. Next time it was 100% highway driving and I only got 29mpg. Now both of those numbers are within the expected range but I'm a very conservative driver and I was expecting better than that. Maybe I'm just being unreasonable but I thought the new EPA testing standards were supposed to decrease the difference between actual mpg vs lab tested mpg. Hopefully it will improve the more I drive and break it in.

I would love to hear what other people are getting as far as their gas mileage on their Five Doors.

You're just breaking the car in. Don't expect incredible numbers so soon. We just reached 2000 miles on ours and around town have gone from an initial 26mpg to just over 28. But of course, now that the Winter mix gas has reached the pumps, we have lost 2mpg, which is typical. Wait until Spring when the Winter mix is gone and the engine is broke in before worrying.

Do you live in mountainous or hill country? That would have an effect too.

I like my Kias with their 10 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty!

RE: Poor fuel economy so far
I'm driving about 100 miles a day and I've put in two tanks the first tank was about 32mpg and yesterday's was 29. I'm going to try and drive "nice" but it's hard in St. Louis traffic and see if "I can learn" to get better mileage.

I live in a flat area and I only drive about 20-25 miles a day. I'm probably over reacting but I do drive pretty conservatively and I hope it improves as I break it in. I'll post some follow ups as I refill my tank. Aside from this issue I do really love my Five Door!

Do you use regular fuel or ethanol blend..With e-blend you gas milage will realy suffer..

RE: Poor fuel economy so far
Alright just got back from a Thanksgiving trip. With 85% highway driving I was able to get 30.7mpg, and with before that with about a 40-60 city to highway mix I got 26.4 mpg. So numbers are improving!
