RE: iPod Connectivity
So I went into my dealer last night and they gave me "the cable". It was just a straight headphone jack to 3.5mm plug cable. All it does is allow you to play any type of mp3 device through the stereo, but not control it. I told him that I wanted the KIA iPod connector and he said that they were out and that they would get me one asap. I tried out the cable and when you set it to AUX, the screen just shows "CONNECTED" but nothing about what is connected to it. Since the cable is just connected to the headphone jack it wouldn't be able to get any info from the device anyway. I then tried using the iPod sync cable and it tries to view the files and folders and comes back with an error saying that it is unable to read from device. This is expected because the sync cable won't let an iPod be read from a Windows PC without iTunes, so why would it let the Forte without their proper connector? So I'm still waiting for my proper cable to come in. I'm happy using the Sirius, CD and Radio for now anyway.

RE: iPod Connectivity
http://www.newegg.com for cheap flash drives.
I got a 32GB for $50. I'll see if it works when I get it (need for other things too) Current original mods I'm working on: 1. iPod dock for console from an aftermarket iPod cable 2. Mood Lighting - one color (done) 3. Mood lighting - multi colors (done, trying to rework to make it cheap) 4. Exterior lighting front (secret) parts on order 5. Exterior lighting (secret) 6. Exterior lighting (secret) 7. Illuminated front badge (different design) 8. Push-to-change-color LED dome lamps (use plans from #3) 9. Removing silver SX rim inserts (someones already done it, looks great!) 10. Rewiring fog lamps to stay on with brights (dimmuborgir91 beat me to it) |

RE: iPod Connectivity
Bought the Kia iPod cable yesterday and it works great with my iPhone 3G. Will try the wifes 3GS today. The sound quality is awesome compared to just using a 3.5mm cable and it's nice to have a car charger again. This radio works with the iphone SO much faster and much smoother than the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X792 I had in my previous car. $40 well spent IMO.
