iPod Connectivity
Does anyone have the Kia issued iPod adapter? I can play the music off my iPod using the standard USB cable it comes with but I can't pick a playlist or song. It also doesn't display on the screen what artist and song is playing. I'll buy the $40 Kia cable if it does not have the same issues but I'm afraid it may.

RE: iPod Connectivity
My dealership didn't have any of the Kia Ipod connectors on hand when I got my car but they called today and said that mine is in. I'll test it out tonight and post on how it works. The way it is supposed to work is that the Kia connector will interface directly into the stereo and allow you to go through your songs and playlists by using the right knob on the stereo. You should see the artist/song and other info on the screen. When you use the standard Ipod sync USB cable it only allows you to play the song/playlist that is showing on the Ipod's screen. You can't control the device through the stereo (play/pause/fwd/back/etc). You need the Kia Ipod cable to do that. I'll let you know how it works with my iPhone later when I play around with it.

RE: iPod Connectivity
Why Pay 40 for a cable when you can dowload all your misic to a USB key and plug it?? It work greath and display song name etc... 5$ for a 4Gb key. Am I missing some feature with the I-pod??

RE: iPod Connectivity
the only benefit for the kia ipod cable is the fact you can use your head unit and steering wheel to control the ipod, as opposed to selecting the song on the ipod to get it to play.

RE: iPod Connectivity
I assume it wont recognize anything but FAT32 (I think it said that in the manual as well) because its not a computer. Also wont play MP3s above 320kbps, I cant remember if the manual said the max GB it woulod recognize from a flash drive.

Current original mods I'm working on:
1. iPod dock for console from an aftermarket iPod cable
2. Mood Lighting - one color (done)
3. Mood lighting - multi colors (done, trying to rework to make it cheap)
4. Exterior lighting front (secret) parts on order
5. Exterior lighting (secret)
6. Exterior lighting (secret)
7. Illuminated front badge (different design)
8. Push-to-change-color LED dome lamps (use plans from #3)
9. Removing silver SX rim inserts (someones already done it, looks great!)
10. Rewiring fog lamps to stay on with brights (dimmuborgir91 beat me to it)

i thought it said the device must be formatted in FAT 16 or 32, i'll have to check again. 320k isn't too bad, a lot of rips are much lower than that aren't they?

RE: iPod Connectivity
If your Kia dealership doesnt have the cable, check the Hyundai dealership as they both use the same type of cable for their cars. Kia is 50% owned by Hyundai anyway.
