flush auto transmission fluid
Hello, I am told i need to flush my transmission fluid for warranty purposes. It seems you need some special machine to do it that only the dealer may have. Is this actually true? I have been looking around for other options but not having much luck.
I am hoping someone here may have some better advise than simply going to the dealer to get the work done.
aloha

RE: flush auto transmission fluid
There are a lot of auto service places that have the necessary equipment / machines. Kwik Kar, Firestone, etc. comes to mind. I would think that ANY transmission shop (AAMCO, for instance) would have one.

The fast lube places have the machines. Valvoline did it for one of my previous cars. Cost around $115.

What mileage does Kia recommend/require for a auto tranny flush. Is if the regular 30,000 mile intervals?

Check your manual. I suspect that it really isn't needed as long as you follow the mfg fluid change interval. Some dealers use this scare tactic to make more money off of un-suspecting owners that never read their manuals.

I have a 2010 Forte Sedan 5 speed auto. According to the manual under normal usage it is not necessary to change the fluid. If used in extreme operating conditions (frequent stop and go, extreme temperatures, towing, dusty roads, etc.) it should be changed at 60,000 miles.
Notes!! Kia dyes the fluid red at the factory to distinguish it from other fluids. The is temporary and the fluid will gradually change to a light brown. This is normal. I had a Kia service advisor try to convince me I needed a fluid change at 30,000 miles because the fluid had turned brown!!!
