Hahaha! That WAS my plan. I had it all arranged, had to go out of town (work related) for a month, and when I got back the dealership was gone (damn economy). Contacted the parent dealership and they said they would replace the tail lights, but would keep the ones I have. Weighting the options, I think I am just going to buy the assemblies, swap them out when needed (i.e. whenever I get tickets for it). I'm not willing to go back to the stock look because it really makes a huge difference in over all appearance of the car. That and the fact that the parent dealership is over an hour away, and there is another one closer that will be getting my business. It will still be cheaper to get the assemblies over not fixing and paying the fine, having the lights stripped and retinted. I could just get the new lights, and have them redone, but that would leave me in this exact situation if I get pulled over for them again three days later. This way I will at least have a fall back.

How many times can you get a fix it ticket for the same violation?

No idea. I think second offense may be a fine or something. Still not really ready or willing to give up the smoked lights.
