Bluetooth pairing issue
I can't get my phone or anyone elses phone to pair with my car. I get to the keycode screen and it says code:0000 and searches. Meanwhile, I am dialing 0000 and nothing happens. I have never used bluetooth before and I am not sure if I call 0000 or send a text or something. It just does't pair with multiple phones that Ive tried. My phone does have bluetooth capability and shows the symbol in the corner of the screen but its a year old samsung.

RE: Bluetooth pairing issue
My sister works for US Cellular. She first activated my bluetooth on my phone, then hit the bluetooth button on the steering wheel and said "SETUP" then waited for prompt and "PAIR PHONE" and I spoke my name. Then it connected.

Theres a page in the owners manual, a flow chart of what to say and what to do. I think its in the index in the back under Radios or something, I forget. Try that. It was a bit confusing, as it doesnt ask you to say something when you hit the button.
When it finds a phone, it will always have the bluetooth icon on the radio (top center screen) unless you hit the button, say SETUP and then wait for prompt and then say BLUETOOTH OFF.

A "0000" might be an error code, not really sure. I'll try to check into it.

When you hit the button and do nothing, (or say something odd) does it say "Pardon?" and then "Cancel"?

Current original mods I'm working on:
1. iPod dock for console from an aftermarket iPod cable
2. Mood Lighting - one color (done)
3. Mood lighting - multi colors (done, trying to rework to make it cheap)
4. Exterior lighting front (secret) parts on order
5. Exterior lighting (secret)
6. Exterior lighting (secret)
7. Illuminated front badge (different design)
8. Push-to-change-color LED dome lamps (use plans from #3)
9. Removing silver SX rim inserts (someones already done it, looks great!)
10. Rewiring fog lamps to stay on with brights (dimmuborgir91 beat me to it)

RE: Bluetooth pairing issue
Jits14, I think you are only doing one side of the pairing. You will need to go into your cell phone's menu and find the Bluetooth Setup option and set it to Setup Mode or Pairing Mode or something that actually searches for a Bluetooth device. In Bluetooth, you must have both the phone searching as well as the accessory (in this case the car). So set your phone to search or pairing mode, and then hit the button on the bottom right of the steering wheel and say "Setup". Then say "Pair Phone" and it will start searching for a phone that is in pairing mode too. Once they find each other, the phone will display something like "Found Forte Koup, would you like to connect?" and accept it. You will then be prompted for a code, use 0000 when prompted. It should finish pairing and then start working for you after that.

Hope that helps.

"0000" is the pass code on the bluetooth setup screen for your phone. My phone, an LG Rumor 2, has a bluetooth option in the menu, I think in settings. After you find that, find the pairing option. It will search for anything broadcasting, and when it finds it, it will show that "Forte" or "forte koup" or "koup" is in range, you can connect to it, which prompts for a password or code, which is the "0000". After you are connected to it, you can change the priorities and when your phone broadcasts. I have my bluetooth set to always be on, so that I don't have to remember to turn it on when I have my car on. It'll kill your battery a little quicker this way, but it's pretty handy. My bluetooth works within like 8 feet of my car, its caught me by surprise sometimes LOL
hope this helped!

thats fantastic. I haven't had the car on with me any further away than a couple feet but that's crazy that it has such a long range.

RE: Bluetooth pairing issue
Most bluetooth ear pieces also work up to 30ft away from the phone. I remote started my car and was helping a friend put something in their car about 20' away. I was able to hear my stereo say the "transfer complete" message.
