Radio sound quality variance
I seem to have great audio when I listen to Sirius satellite, but when I tune in an AM radio station, the talking of the host on the station cant be adjusted properly.

I've tried every possible combination of bass, treble, mid, and F/R L/R fading/balance.

Has anyone noticed this? Speech sounds so bad, i struggle to hear what the host is saying.

Any suggestions?

Current original mods I'm working on:
1. iPod dock for console from an aftermarket iPod cable
2. Mood Lighting - one color (done)
3. Mood lighting - multi colors (done, trying to rework to make it cheap)
4. Exterior lighting front (secret) parts on order
5. Exterior lighting (secret)
6. Exterior lighting (secret)
7. Illuminated front badge (different design)
8. Push-to-change-color LED dome lamps (use plans from #3)
9. Removing silver SX rim inserts (someones already done it, looks great!)
10. Rewiring fog lamps to stay on with brights (dimmuborgir91 beat me to it)

RE: Radio sound quality variance
it's AM radio.. quality is not good! it's normal that you have better sound with sirius. And it's the same thing, AM vs FM, FM is better.

RE: Radio sound quality variance
I had an HD radio tuner in my last car that made AM radio sound like FM and FM sound like Sirius. I'm sure you can get an adapter for the stock radio.

RE: Radio sound quality variance
well, i mean to say the AM is terrible. even cars from 1978 i've owned had acceptable quality.

The AM is almost unusable. Could someone else test for me please if they get a moment? Let me know if the audio is just terrible or not for talking on AM. I *must* just have something adjusted wrong.

I know at 5PM the local station I listen to cuts their power to 35KW but the tower is only 15 miles away. All AM stations sound bad, too in my KIA. In my lincolns (One has JBL Premium, the other regular JBL. Sounds like the host is in the car with me) they sound fine, too.

AM sounds fine in my car. I know it's not local, but there a few good talk radio stations on Sirius.

AM working fine for mine too. you live near power lines? or maybe adjust your foil helmet, usually works for me Wink

maybe check with your dealer. the pinnacle of AM antenna technology has just about been reached, other than getting a larger and boosted antenna, not sure what you can do.

RE: Radio sound quality variance
Thanks, I'll try that. Theres a HAM radio guy at work, he says my signal is fine (station doesnt fade or scratch, its clear...just the voice sounds like crap, like the equalizer is all wrong). I'll see what the dealer says.

The sound is the same at home, at work, 50 miles from home. Its like theres bad bass and no treble sometimes.

PS., I love the hat hahaha.

RE: Radio sound quality variance
that is odd, it's not the antenna then, maybe something in the signal decoder. simple enough device but can still have bugs i suppose. in my 99 olds i get 0 AM reception, just static, with occasional blips, voices, odd noises, but never a clear signal. was like that since i bought it.
