Anybody hearing unusual engine noise?
Such as light knocking or valve clatter at idle, especially when warm? Mine has done it from the get go, a EX with the 2.0 engine. I'm trying to determine whether this is typical before I get into the whole dealer thing.

Go to the dealer and ask to listen to other 2.0s at idle.

I've got the 2.4 and have no unusual noises...except for when it was 12*F and the engine was warming up.

ill raise your 12F(-11c) for -50c (-58f) hah. You should hear it idle at that temp, try 2-2500rpm for 10 minutes lol.

I didnt notice mine until a few days ago. I dont remember it being noisy, but now it is. Distinct until 3k RPM.

Current original mods I'm working on:
1. iPod dock for console from an aftermarket iPod cable
2. Mood Lighting - one color (done)
3. Mood lighting - multi colors (done, trying to rework to make it cheap)
4. Exterior lighting front (secret) parts on order
5. Exterior lighting (secret)
6. Exterior lighting (secret)
7. Illuminated front badge (different design)
8. Push-to-change-color LED dome lamps (use plans from #3)
9. Removing silver SX rim inserts (someones already done it, looks great!)
10. Rewiring fog lamps to stay on with brights (dimmuborgir91 beat me to it)

So, to make sure we're talking about the same thing, it's a light knocking noise, not the normal injector or engine noise. Not there at cold start either, just once it comes down to normal idle and is starting to warm up. And then at warm idle. That sound right?

Mine goes away at anything above idle, like 1000-1200 rpm and it's gone.

RE: Anybody hearing unusual engine noise?
After looking at the service manual on assembling the cylinder head it appears there is no valve adjustment. These engines use a Mechanical Lash adjuster (MLA) and I didn't see any physical valve lash adjustment after installing the cams. The tapping noises we hear occasionally may just be the normal operation of these engines.
