Audi-style LED
I've finally installed LED strips to my Forte. I would've written a DIY for interested people, but I had a shop do the installation, since I have no garage, and as you can see from the picture, our weather is a bitch right now. The LEDs cost me about US$4 (shipped). from ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?View...0332928678

The installation was a hour's labour, which in my case was C$65+tx.

The strips are wired into the parking lamps. They are on whenever the parking lamps are on (with or without headlights). They are wedged between the bumper and the headlight assembly. It's as if they were designed for this car. The assembly holds them securely in place.

This could've been a $10 project if done in the summer. I think it's much better than the $150 custom LED eyeline from SK or SG, or wherever. Even that mod requires wiring, so I don't see the benefits. LEDs are cheap and that eyeline cannot cost the company more than $15 to manufacture. I'm not paying a 1000% markup + shipping for such a mod.

My phone camera sucks. The lights are way too bright for the camera to handle well. I'll take more pics at my parents' place this weekend.

Looks good. This is something I've been considering but have been on the fence about, mostly because of the rediculous prices as you mentioned but this is a lot more reasonable.

That is so sexy, I think I need to go take my pants off now.

One of my signature "secrets" listed is using white EL wire in a 75% wrap, I just cant make up my mind which method to attach would be best. I decided to go this route so it would match another mod I have planned once the weather hits 40 F here

Looking at the front of my car, the lights would be wrapped like this:

[_ (KIA) _]

Current original mods I'm working on:
1. iPod dock for console from an aftermarket iPod cable
2. Mood Lighting - one color (done)
3. Mood lighting - multi colors (done, trying to rework to make it cheap)
4. Exterior lighting front (secret) parts on order
5. Exterior lighting (secret)
6. Exterior lighting (secret)
7. Illuminated front badge (different design)
8. Push-to-change-color LED dome lamps (use plans from #3)
9. Removing silver SX rim inserts (someones already done it, looks great!)
10. Rewiring fog lamps to stay on with brights (dimmuborgir91 beat me to it)

RE: Audi-style LED
Hey Ile, looking forward to meeting up sometime soon so I can see it. I was worried it would look a little "hack" until the newer pics you posted. Would love to see it up close.

Cheers!

Really been wanting to make this mod, but been in the same boat with the steep prices. Thanks for the link, just purchased a set for mine...

Thanks, the pictures don't do it justice, since I don't have a camera good enough to duplicate the contrast at night. D113, you'll definitely see me if we have a meet somewhere in SW Ontario or GTA area.

They are visible and look really nice with my HIDs, but I cannot show it in a picture.

Just a word. You get what you pay for. This is what I have to deal with until I can get contact back from the seller. It is my luck that they ship from hong kong so it is going to take forever to get a new one either route I choose to take...

RE: Audi-style LED
Too bad. I just don't think that even the more expensive ones would be better quality. I mean, thez're from some cheap Asian shop too... Mine still work fine.

Lesson learned! Buy three when you need two when buying overseas!

ps. have you wiggled the cable at the 'break' to see if it's intermittant?
