2004 Cavalier - Baer Racing brakes, K&N, 17in wheels. I still have these in my garage, considered installing on my Forte, but 1 or 2 are peeling. I traded this for the Forte.

!985 MC SS - 300hp L98 Corvette eng converted to carb. Holly 650, then a edelbrock 600 cfm carb. The original Rochester had some problems so I dumped in favor of the previous carbs, the edelbrock gave me the less headaches.

Love the Monte Carlo..and yes, the quadrajunk carbs sucked! I had an '84 Iroc Z-28 that came with the quadrajunk...it sucked and you couldn't tune it.

You just didn't know enough about the Quadrajet carburetor! I used to rebuild and modify them -- made quite a few into some serious drag carbs that holleys AND fuel injected Holley Throttle bodies couldn't beat -- Had a college engineering class even try to beat one of my modified Quadrajets once with several different carbs and a fuel injected Holley Throttle body (with Holley Tech Support) -- Beat them all on a dragstrip all using the same car/engine with my Q-Jet! Loved that Q-Jet...LoL! Lots of tricks you can do with the Q-jet...just wasn't known by the average mechanic.

Fact is the biggest problem with the Q-jet was people OVERTORQUING them...the front two mount bolts were usually tightened too much and would crush the bowl and caused all sorts of leaks in the fuel and air passages between the top and bowl assemblies. I had to do a lot of filing and filling with epoxy to fix quite a few!

This is the 71 Datsun 240Z racecar that we finally sold and replaced it with the Koup & a Jeep. Still bugs me it's gone....

It's always greener on the other side! Yes it was fun, but alot of work. After building that thing we ran it twice a month for about 5 years. It got double duty track time so that ment many hours of prep time, tires, gas, travel, and it was a money hole but a fun one. We where the lucky ones that ran that fine line on the edge for years and never crashed. Seen lots of drivers run out of talent, I think we counted 8 didn't survive over that time. I was starting to run it on the streets a little and thought it was time to move on. Its now getting ready to run at VIR with a new owner driver wanting to get into vintage racing. Very addicting, but I don't miss the late nights, early mornings, and all the wrenching. Ok now I'm crying! Sad
