I photo-shopped this picture to look like my brakes are painted red.

Does this look cool, or is it douchy? And do cops tend to judge you based on this simple mod?

Oh, and who would you go to have this done without screwing up your brakes?

Don't like ... would be better black in my opinion :) You can easily do it yourself

A cop won't be keen to pull you over if you put a lil paint on your calipers. Trust me, that's the last thing they'll notice... its def not illegal in any sort of way.

I saw a guy put Blue Calipers on his blue coup, and it looked good. I'm just throwing it out there.

I know it's not illegal, but, what I mean is I don't want any cop that pulls me over to have some sort of prejudice over me cause I made that modification to my car. You know? Like, "Oh, this guy must think he's one of those racer guys, I'll show him....TICKET!"

I'm not trying to be a douche, I just want a nice looking car.

Painting your calipers won't cause you any grief...unless you get paint between your rotor and brake pads...LoL.

99.9% of people - or cops - won't even notice your calipers if you paint them...heck, they are bright silver now -- anybody ever say anything to you about them? I never had anybody roll down a window and yell: "Wow your brake calipers sure are bright silver looking"...LoL!

I painted mine blue on my blue Koup...red is definitely more noticable. just make sure you use either a caliper paint or a high heat engine paint.

Thanks, man. Yes, I think your car was the one I saw. The Blue looks nice.

thanks!

If you get pulled over in the Koup it cause of some strange move you made or little too quick. You will normally need lots of mods to get a cop to pull you over. Tint, Lights and Exhaust will give you the double look first.

Painted calipers are next on my list. Lots of colors to choose from.
Check out the G2 caliper paints as one of your options.

Just make sure your are up in the proper painting temps per painting instructions to do the best job you can. Pretty simple too.

Awesome. Good advice. Much appreciated. will look into those paints.

And, yes, I've actually been pulled over already. I was testing the tiptronic function, and the cop pulled me over and said, "Really?"

I told him the car was brand new, and have not got used to the smooth speed of the car. He let me go. This time. Lesson learned. I just don't want any unnecessary attention.

I think going with the same color as your car is good. Red on Red, and Blue on Blue looks nice. Red also looks good on Black, too.

I think blue would look sweet, just like KoupCoupe has.

I've had a red duplicolor kit in my garage for over 6 months and no time to sit down and do the work. It's really easy, just mask off anything that you don't want painted and brush away. Do several coats, but allow each coat to dry (per the instructions) before applying another coat.

I might give my duplicolor kit away and go with the G2 kit as I have had problems with the Duplicolor kit peeling after a year or so. Haven't heard of that happening with the G2 kits.

My friend at work used the gold G2 paint to do his calipers last week and they came out great.

He mentioned that it only took 1/2 of the paint to put 2 coats on all 4 corners. He wish he had split the paint in 1/2 before mixing in the hardener. Then he would have had some for a back up. It does have a shelf life before mixing. I have a couple other items planned when I do mine...

I guess I'll order up the Red G2 paint, and remove the plastic inserts while the rims are off. :shy:

Check this out guys for some cool calipers!
