Mostly I'm looking for any info on possible new models that we may not have come across in the internet's endless bombardment of information.
I am very curious if anyone has seen info about a possibly more powerful version of the Koup coming out. The dealership is taking so long to get mine in, it's given me time to reconsider and wait. Anyone seen anything about a stronger powerplant? I'd really appreciate it!

The only thing I've seen in the works is a supposed 5-door version of the Forte to be unveiled at the next Seoul auto show. It's late and I cannot find the link right now, but I will look again in the morning, sorry...

With the SX's 173 HP and 168 lbs Torque plus the fact it weighs well under 3000 lbs . Damn for now, that's enough for this old man.Later on we can add a cold air intake ,and a good exhaust system. And pray for wings cause this things gona fly . Don't forget no turbo/supercharger you use reg gas and insurance is dirt cheap. As far as measured power use the greatest gauge in the world, your wonderful built-in BUTT DYNO Just stand on it hang on and smile.
;D

I do really like the setup the SX has now, but I would be upset if in say, February Kia dropped a version with a turbo or something similar. If it is coming out 2 years from now that wouldn't bother me, but if it comes out in 6 mos I know I'll feel disappointed. Although if I know it is in the works, then I've got the patience to get what I really want. Kia's got a thing about releasing model updates midstride, they've seemed to abandoned the notion of only making changes during a certain timeframe, aka once a year,(not a bad thing at all, great business model!), and stay on their toes with market demands and trends.

Unfortunately, I've only been able to drive the Forte sdn SX in an auto, but I do like the Koup's styling and WILL be getting one. I've got a similar plan if I finally get the SX on the market now, probably adding a turbo, intercooler, larger exhaust, and HP chip, or some combination thereof. The Euro market already has some decent kits available for the Cee'd, although they do not have the same motor options as we've got for the Forte, and I expect, especially now that the Koup has hit the market, for US aftermarket companies to follow in suit.

Anyway, I am VERY excited about my upcoming purchase!!!  :D

Well I read viunzary's post and I'd actually like to see one sooner.

Let's source the turbo charger from the Genesis Coupe and add in the 2.4 liter on the SX and tune it to about 240 horses and i'll be a happy camper.  Throw in limited slip differential and maybe limit the horses at first and second gear (ala Mazdaspeed).  The last thing would be to keep the torque down low (that's why I have only 240 horses)  Focus on low end torque and strong mid range.  If torque steer is manageable we will have ourselves a nice sub six second sports coupe.  Price it around 22k and I'm game.

Call it the Forte-R spec.

Oh and a very mild bodykit and perhaps a small duck bill spoiler.. nothing crazy.  The Koup is already really hot and I dont think changing the exterior should be a concern. 8-)

I was told by the salesman (so it's worth what it's worht!!) that Kia was working on a turbo version but with the 2.0L.  Same engine as the Genesis so about 210HP.  Torque steer will become a nightmare with a 2.4L turbo at (let's say) 240HP.

I think it was autoblog mentioning some new test track work being done with a Koup, that was seen post production(recently). So, it's kinda doubtful they're out there driving around in circles with a stock Koup. The best speculation is on the 2.0T from the Genesis, though there is also a 1.6 turbo that has yet to be put in production, but it is not significantly more powerful that the 2.4 already in there.

Hyundai also has a 2.4 Theta II, same as in the SX, which produces 228hp and is a hybrid motor they call blue drive technology.
