Hey Guys, as I stated in my introduction, I don't own a Forte, but I do like the way they look. On my way home today, I had a Forte coupe blow by me at probably 80-90 mph. It was a Forte EX and it was sharp. Charcoal gray color and hauling butt! I was just wondering if the 2.0 engine in the Forte is the same "world" engine that Hyundai, Mitsubishi and Dodge use too? I had an 08 Caliber with the 2.0 and it was amazingly simple to work on. I know that each manufacture has their own add ons to the engines, but was just wondering if Kia uses this common block too?

It's similar, Theta II platform.

The current Koup is also offered in a 2.4 version of the Theta II as well. It's got a good bit more balz

Pre 2014 2.0L not the same engine as the 2014 2.0L Forte GDI engine. From what I understand the 2014 Hyundai Elantra will also get the 2.0L GDI.

Yep, I've got the 2.4 in my 200 and it's a lot quicker than the 2.0 was in my Caliber.

The 2014 Forte 2.0L has the same hp as the 2013 2.4L. It lacks about 14 ft lbs of torque that larger cubic inch of the 2.4L gives.

Well, a lot of folks complain about the CVT transmission, but I can tell you this. My Caliber had the CVT four speed and it was kind of a dog. BUT, the 200 has a 6 speed auto stick CVT and there is an amazing difference in performance. This thing shifts great through the first four gears. After that, it's more like slipping into overdrive for 5th and 6th, unless I use the auto stick. It really pisses the wife off when I do that to some punk kid in a ricer!

The Forte does not have a cvt but it does have the autostick if you will. The EX does not come with a shifter trans but the auto stick works well and is fun to play with.

it may have the same horsepower... but it's nowhere near as quick (ask someone who knows lol)

No need to ask when I already know.......and it's no where near as quick as my 2.4L ION....Yet it has enough power to get out of it's own way.

I'm hoping Firebird reopens this fall so we can take the Forte up to make some passes. The sock ION 2.4L auto runs between 15.8 and 16.2 depending on the conditions. I'm hoping the stock Forte 2.0L auto will run between 16.0 and 16.4.

PS: That's at Firebird, what the same cars run at your local track is another story all together.

We have taken three of our 2007 ION's 2.4L autotrans sedans to Firebird.

Not on the same night
Stock Grey 16.1's
Stock Silver 16.1's
Stock White 16.0

Cold Air Intake added
Silver 15.919
White 15.883

On the bottle 30 shot
Silver 15.017
White 14.941
Zero traction

Stock 2007 ION Redline Quad Cpe.
14.420

All runs on stock street tires. Best runs posted.

We now need to go out with the Speed 3 and the Forte EX Sedan
