One month after having te car it is bound to happen with my wife sharing the car....
She comes back from an errand and said there is a scratch on the right rear 1/4 panel. I look at it and shiiit!! looks like someone walked past it with a purse or a bag or something and bumped against it....aaaarrggh I was pissed. Everytime she drive my car something happens....

Some idiots have no respect or just plain clumsy. She said there was no one else around the car....uh huh.

Life with a car is a compromise. If you want to keep it looking new, make an effort to keep it away from other people. If you don't care, park amongst the other non-carers and prepare for the dings and scratches.

I always park against a curb, island, etc at the back of the partking lot to reduce the chances by half that someone can park beside me and do damage. Tell your wife that she learns to talk a little further in the parking lots, or she walks back and forth to the store.

Amen.

its not really a big deal to me. i have a little dent in my door, so what? its only a car lol. thats just my feelings on it

Depends on the color of the car too. Black would stand out big time having any scratch. Red is not too bad, have to catch a side glance to see a mark unless its big.

like ono, i just dont care anymore :/ i still wash and wax it tho lol

Exactly. I mean it's bound to happen. I really want to fix the one on my door because it looks hella bad. The two that are on my bumper I could care less about, and I'll get them fixed if I have extra money. The one on my door was indeed from a door ding at an amusement park parking lot which was totally out of my control. They have directors at the beginning of the day that make you park in a specific space. The guy next to me in a huge SUV parked crooked and banged his door into mine. I didn't notice it until I got back home though. :( But O well, I'll get it fixed when I have the extra cash.

Door dinging is a national pastime! LOL!

Inconsiderate people basically who, in most cases, do not even know they are doing it. On the other hand there are some out there that just do it because they're angry at the world or angry that someone else has a newer car...

My brother parked his beloved AMC Javelin at a restaurant one time. As he was getting out a Chevy Impala started to park next to him. Being a Gentleman he closed his door and waved for them to go ahead and park. When the Impala stopped the little old lady in the back opened her door and hit my brother's Javelin. As she got out of the Impala she used the door to help herself get out, so the door was just banging against his...bang...bang...bang...bang! I could see him "fuming" in his seat and when the old people finished getting out of their car he "let fly" that long Javelin door and BAM -- really left an "impression" in the Impala...as well as the owner and old lady... I guess some people only learn the "hard way"!

Nice story! :D

I can't even bare to read this thread... it hurts to much to think about these knuckle heads doing this. Avoid Walmart & Target parking lots for sure!
