i got mine for 20400 total INCLUDING almost 1000 in taxes and 160 license & title for my leather package. I thought I was getting ripped. I dont really care, this is my first NEW car EVER and I hate everything else under 30k purchase price and im not paying 50k for a Taurus SHO (even with 13.0 in the 1/4 mile) . Loaded, leather, homelink, everything. Leather seems to be a rare option...maybe not that many cows in Korea lol...was only 5 in the midwest (within 300 miles) that had manual trans and leather
Apparently they keep the Korea cow for Canada!!!

They have lots of cows in korea. Its just that there are not many Koups with the leather option shipped over.

So I paid MSRP on my SX sedan. I tried to get them to lower it but since they couldn't get one into the London Ontario Canada dealership without getting it either from another dealer or ordering it brand new and waiting over a month, I didn't have much choice. There were some great incentives with it though. I paid $20,995 and then freight and PDI and taxes (even tried to get them to drop the PDI, no go). They didn't have any on the lot and were backordered on them so there was a wait regardless. They had to hunt the one I wanted down. Apparently they have to either give the other dealer a vehicle from their lot on trade, or pay some transfer fee, so that was their reasoning for not giving me a deal. For incentives they gave me the don't pay until March (4 months no payments or interest), $0 down, 2.9% interest over 60 months, a $300 prepaid VISA, paid out the remaining 4 months owing on my leased Mazda 6 and took it back to Mazda for me, and gave me a loaner '09 Sportage V6 for 1.5 weeks to drive since they got rid of my Mazda for me! Since MSRP was so low for this type of car, I was happy to get in it for the sticker price and since they gave me lots of incentives, I still feel like I am ahead of the game!

Oh, and I did go to Mazda first and was looking at a 2010 Mazda 6 and a 2010 CX7. Since my lease wasn't up until March, they weren't willing to talk to me about getting out of my existing lease and into a new financed Mazda. They wanted me to either buy out the Mazda that I had and sell it or trade it in, or wait until March. The problem with that was that my Mazda had a high residual buyout and wasn't worth that and my mileage allowance was 80,000kms in 4 years and I was already at 81,300 and would have to pay a lot in overage when I handed it back in March. Kia just said "no problem, we'll payout your payments and hand it back to them tomorrow". They made it so easy and Mazda lost a sale and repeat customer!

So, I was looking over this article that was linked off a top small cars list that Viz linked and check this out. On average, most US buyers pay more than MSRP according to this article. Must be because they are in such high demand.

I had my dealer pull a couple fast ones on me. I wasnt too concerned at the signing time as I traded them in a lemon that they didn't even test drive. Now that I am looking at paperwork after, I think they pinned me with a lot of shipping costs. Do you think I can force them to show me details 2 weeks after signing papers; I think they roped me for a lot of extra.

/\/\/\ you can make them show you, but not a lot you can do about it unless it was a completely unethical action on their part and dependent upon your consumer protection laws where you live.

Rez, did you actualy take delivery or did you just sign a "buying agrement" ???

I've broke two contract and revise one before actualy getting my car. Even get a full deposit refund!!!

No I got my car the same day I signed my contracts, I am pretty sure I am screwed. I am going to force them to see the paperwork as they already were forced to show me because they didnt give me my promotions. Instead of showing me the details, they paid out 1000$ to me. Im pretty sure they roped me some more. I am going to get the details, I have lieu time for my lawyer for about 1.5 hours.. I am going to get him to tell me my legal entitlements.

Good Luck Rez! Sounds like this deal didn't go as smoothly as you'd hoped. Hopefully your legal council will find something for you to go back to the dealer with.

Sorry to hear that. In MANY states, no matter what you've signed or put money on, until you take delivery, theres no sale.

I'm not too familiar other than some states having a "buyers remorse" law to return the car...but if they knowingly bamboozled you, you ARE responsible for what you sign, BUT if they misrepresented what the contract says, you may have some legal grounds. It also MUST be clear on any contract what you're paying for. If all the fees and such are hidden in the "dealer retail price" then well...they win.

Then again, their witnesses all work for the dealership. You might not even have a witness. They are all crooks...Talk to them long enough when wanting to buy a car, they will lie and lie and lie. Just smile and keep count of them. Ask lots of open ended questions next time. Even the best salesmen choke.

About the MSRP and people paying more: thats because theres no incentives other than the $400 college credit for the Koup SX at this time (per KIA website) so mathematically, they will be higher.

I've noticed reviewing the contracts again and again, it clearly states that verbal contracts will not be honored, only what is on the sheet will. I was told command start, floor mats, block heater, mud flaps, and locking lock nuts were installed, and $1250 was tacked on to the sale price. I didnt get them to break it down. My car came with these things, minus command start and lock nuts. Aswell my dealer weasled out of giving me 300$ visa card and $700 cash back as promotions stated. Because it did not show on my paperwork, and they could not prove it was taken off they cut me a cheque for 1000$. On that note, I am going to have to eat the command start, but they are going to give/install the locking lugs.. woopie. Because of the contracts, and the slippery sales people I have not much to go on other than honor.. which doesnt mean much in todays society. Something that I wanted your peoples opinions on is something I may be able to go at the dealer for. Same situation as the promotions with the 700 cash back, 300 visa card; I noticed on the website there is a manufacturer discount of 700 deducted online, this does not show on my paperwork. Is that the same as the cash back? because under the promotion section it shows a discount plus the 700 cash back under finance. What do you guys think? I think another 750 in my pocket would feel nice!

Sorry to hear your having some difficulty with your dealer.
I know it's "singing the same old song"...but you have to get EVERYTHING promised in writing. With my dealer they provide a document to sign that has everything verbal promised on it...and the usual statement that "if it isn't on this document it is not provided".

Anybody looking to buy a car, make sure that what they say they will provide is in writing! Even if it's free oil changes, for example.

Good Deal?!?!

Hey guys!!! Just found this forum, pretty sweet!

Anyway, I live in AZ and I bought my SX Koup 11/30/09, last day of the month!!!

MSRP was $19340 because it has the Sunroof and Auto-dimming mirror w/ homelink & compass.

I traded in a 2007 Honda Civic EX Coupe Auto w/ Navi with about 43k miles. I baby my cars so it was in excellent condition.

Here's the deal I got...

Forte SX Koup...................$17481
Trade.............................-$14750
Difference.........................$2731
Tax..................................$227
Fees.................................$511 <--- I had a $323 plate credit that lowered these, so I guess you could add that to the price...
TOTAL OTD........................$3469

I just put the $3500 on my credit card for the points and will pay it off this month!!!

 So, what do you think?!?!

im pretty sure its for both, not 100% tho...

According to the Kia website, the $1000 cash back is only on the sedans, not on the Koups, at least here in AZ...

It was $2000 cash back on the sedans and nothing on the Koups when I bought my Koup the end of November!!!
