Ok, I can tolerate a lot of stuff on a forum, but spam is not acceptable. We now have a spammer (showstarlight) that as been allowed to spam the site for 2 days now. Sal, I think it's time you form a staff of moderators to help you out so things like this can be taken care of in a timely manner.

This showstarlight is a known spammer from China: http://www.stopforumspam.com/search?q=showstarlight
 
just sent Sal a message about it. he's banned a couple users for spamming before, so dont be surprised if this guy disappears
 
We already had something in place to protect us from spammers - however, it seems there can never be enough steps in place.. I've installed a new plugin that will help keep people like this popular spammer away.

That being said, I do believe we need moderators.. If anyone with experience is interested, please let me know..

Thanks for dumping that spambucket lowlife. That's the one thing you find out in short order when you have to deal with them on a regular basis; software protection only lasts so long before these lowlifes figure a way around it. Eyes on the ground are your backup.

I've been reporting all spam messages/posts and members that are obvious spammers. Sal seems to get on them pretty quick, but I agree that us daily visiting members could handle things a little faster.

Okay, so we have three potential moderators here:
- Kenny C
- desert fox
- ItsaRuck!

I believe ItsaRuck! has experience.. How about Kenny C and Desert Fox? If so, what is your experience?

Otherwise, which areas are you interested in? It would be great if all three of you had different interests - but this is the real world and that's not bound to happen. Ultimately I'd like to get one person to cover the Koup area, another person to cover the Sedan area and then another person to cover the rest...

When things get busier in the future, than we'll likely need more than one person in each area...

I can do it all, but if an area needs to be chosen, since I have a sedan; Sedan area is a good fit. There is also a need for someone to manage and organize threads. Meaning delete duplicates, merge common threads and move threads when posted in the wrong areas.

I mean not related to our rides?

Getting to know each other, boys/girls talk...asking advice what to do with their pet,what watch is IN nowadays,Sports, etc...This site will get bigger as time goes by....

What do you think guys?

I can do it all or part of it as well. I am currently and have been for the last several years a supermod (site wide) at www.texastruckscene.com . It's based on vBulletin, but most forum software works the same.

Let me know what you need sir!
 
I appreciate everyone who's been reporting spam as well as anyone who decides to help out by becoming a moderator. It sounds like Desert Fox would rather report posts rather than deal with them (I don't blame him!) so we have Kenny C and ItsaRuck!... I'll probably just make the two of you Super Moderators since you have experience with this kind of stuff.. We'll start off tomorrow morning with these changes. I'd take care of it right now, but I won't be here again until probably the morning - and if anything goes wrong, it'll be several hours before I can be available. If there's anything questions or anything like that - I'd rather be around..

As for the Off-Topic forum, we already have one:
General Discussion / The Lounge - This is the area for General Discussions. Please use this area to introduce yourself and discuss anything that doesn't belong in one of the categories in other areas.
