This is my first car with traction control but for anyone who lives in an area affected by snow I have a question. When your traction control engages, say on a snowy hill, does it make like a grinding noise? Is this normal? It just doesn't sound right to me, but I've never had a car with this feature.

Also, I think this may just be a part of the ABS system but when you hit ice or snow when your trying to stop and your car slides a little bit, I know you're supposed to feel a pumping sensation on the brake pedal but do you ever feel like you can't push it down, that something, like a rod or something is jamming directly into your foot?

Thanks for the help.

when u braking mabye the sound you heart is the abs brake (anti-lock feature)

the tcs only act on the acceleration

its cut right your accel if its detect any tire sliding causing a weird feeling, if u dont like it u can disable it during snowstrom or anything else

Living in Toronto, we have some snow and ice but not as much as prior years...
The tcs will engage but there was NO grinding noise at all. There is some noise (more like clicking rather than grinding)
Maybe with the combination of ABS, sliding and tires in snow/ice is causing that 'noise'.

On days that I do not have to be somewhere on time, I turn the tcs off.....kind off fun to slide a bit :)

cheers.

Mine makes the same noise at take off on the snowy roads; only at the time of take off. I found it normal, as my 07 wrangler made the same noise when taking off in 2 wheel dr on ice and the tcs kicked in.

I hear the same noise but I can feel that it is the traction control doing the abs thing with the brakes on the tire that is spinning. What gets annoying is when both tires are spinning and it kicks in giving you no power at all until you stop accelerating and slowly start again or turn off the tcs.

Yep! I had to disable it last week to get in my subdivision...steep hill+ice & snow+TCS=Koup sliding backwards down the hill!

yea it activates the ABS on whichever wheel is spinning. if both, it dumbs down the engine

I don't know how true this is...haven't tried it yet. On another forum a Kia Tech said to properly use the traction disengage you should turn the key on (engine not running) push the button in and then crank the engine. Anybody try this yet?
