I was curious about what everyone is choosing for their transmissions? I'm (nearly certain) going to get the six-speed on the SX, but would like to know what your preferences/experiences are? Thanks!

I only had the choice of an automatic due to spousal privilege (she won't drive a manual). If it were completely up to me I would prefer a manual.

i've just read some not too flattering remarks about their manual, but I drive a 9 speed semi usually and can't imagine an auto. i'm really just curious to hear what real people(not pro mag writers) have to say. i don't expect it to be a vette but you know...

i purchased a forte ex sedan with a 5 speed and i love it. i heard a lot of nay-saying against the manual transmissions as well while i was reading reviews for the forte. however, i don't feel that neither the clutch nor the gearbox are vague or rubbery. in fact, i think the gearbox in the forte is more accurate than the 6 speed in the hyundai genesis coupe that i drove months ago. i also drove the 4 speed automatic version of the car when i was first introduced to the car. it is a very solid feeling transmission! i just prefer a manual...

Well, I've got a six speed manual....and like some of the reviews I've read, yes, the clutch and gas are  a little touchy,( just a little)... but just like any other clutch/gas, you'll get used to it and it's not really bad at all.

Six speed for me and I agree it is a little touchy but I never had a new car before.

I love the six speed...

ya i agree with the two guys above me.. i test drove the 2.4l 6 speed and it was a bit sensitive. but i would choose a 6 speed man over a auto any day.  :)

i appreciate the responses, i think i'll really enjoy the 6-speed too. i just like the control. i've never appreciated autos and feel if you really want to enjoy the ride you need that control. thanks again!

Well I bought it for the wife so it's the 5 speed auto magic.

I'd like an SX Coupe Six speed.  IF I went that route I would probably look into after market shifter and clutch pads.  Shift feel is very important to me.

I have an EX with the 5 speed. Smooth and precise...not rubbery or vague at all. Better than the 5 speed in our 09 Mitsubishi Lancer. It makes the car much more fun to drive, in my opinon.

Got it manual - 6 speeds. No problem!

It feels even more comfortable to shift than the one i've tried at the dealer. It seems to be smoother and shorter than the 1st i've tried.

I'm partial to automatics...mostly city type driving and no longer enjoy 50 clutch actions in 6 miles...LoL

The 5 speed auto is NICE...and when I want to hear the engine go through the gears as I slowly accelerate I can by just kicking the lever to the right and taping it when I want it to shift up...
