I have a new 2010 forte ex, its less than 3 months old. at highway speeds (100 to 110 km/h) a vibration occurs and it is more pronounced when it is cool out. I have had it in to the shop and the kia mechanics say it is fine, they rebalanced the tires, the vibration is still there, now they want to replace the tires....anyone have any thoughts or have come across this problem.

I wouldn't think all the tires are bad, but based on your description, at least one of the tires has a defect. Let them do the tires since it's on their dime.;)

It's possible you hit a resonance frequency in one of the components or the system, I would almost guarantee they designed the vehicle to avoid this at cruising speeds. With that said I would lean towards a non-KIA controlled part like the tires as previously mentioned. Provided they are replacing them for nothing sounds like a good plan to me...

A tire can have a profound effect on the comfort level -- On a recent trip I had a tire on my Sorento go bad. The Sorento started to shake at about 40 MPH and by 70 was unbearable to drive. The vibration was so bad I thought the driveshaft was bent (RWD). Turned out to be a front tire's steel belt had broken inside and the tire was WAY out of round and balance -- and probably would have come apart if I had continued driving. My advice: get your tires looked at by a specialist -- not only balanacing but look at them very closely while they spin for being out-of-round.

Broken belt is no good... I can attest that it feels like your driving with a square wheel. Don't worry, didn't happen on the street.

Are they the standard equipment Hankook tires?

That's the way it's always been as far back as I can remember. That's why with the manual and car warranty, you get a separate warranty book from the tire maker.

They are Nexen tires which are standard on some cars as well.

I had Nexen tires and 2ea has small leak....every 3 days, I have to refill some more....

Checked with the dealer and they might change all of them...

any issues regarding this in America?
