Weird \\\'s in posts and quotes

Anyone else notice the weird quotes and \\\\\\\'s inserted before apostrophes?

The board added to extra back spaces to my subject line and in my post.... :wtf:

yea ive noticed it too... and i was thinkin wtf as well lol... its only after apostrophes and maybe quotation marks

its a sign that 2012 is coming early :cool:

although i do dispute the \"end of the world\" theory, i think the mayans just kinda got lazy lol :cool:

and it added a backslash before each

The backslash character is used in circumstances where the character would normally not be displayed since it would normally be interpreted by the browser as some sort of controlling character, not an actual part of a word or sentence. The backslash \"escapes\" the browsers programming control and allows the character to be displayed. When an escape character shows up, it\'s being used in a situation where it is not needed. This is a scripting or setup issue in the site software that generates all these forum pages. It is..... a bug. Should be easy to fix, I would guess. I\'m not a web guru or anything, I just recognize this from back in my days as a programmer analyst....many years ago. Thankfully. ;)

That\'s the only time I see this issue too.

it didnt do it for the longest time then started doin it like last month

If you go back and edit your original post it adds more \\\'s < erased in my last edit

You can go back and erase them all in another edit but it will start all over again!
